Focused on the problems and opportunities of the rural Third World, the Rainer Arnhold Fellows Program teaches emerging leaders how to translate good ideas into lasting change that will go to scale.

The Program commemorates and continues the work of Rainer Arnhold, a physician who devoted his life to the health of the world’s children. Rainer’s work in a long series of humanitarian crises led him to focus on the notion of a secure and livable future for the children of today. It is this idea of a livable future that drives the Program.

Rainer Arnhold Fellows are people with 1) a passion for a better world and 2) a good idea about change. Drawn from health, development and conservation, they are doctors, economists, biologists, agronomists—field-based professionals working on solutions for a thriving future.

In two years with the Program, Fellows work closely with their colleagues and with Program faculty to apply a systematic design approach to their individual field projects. The Fellowship offers them the opportunity to develop and apply their ideas, move a specific field project forward, and master a set of tools for success, sustainability, and scaling-up.
